Mainsailor Scholarship Fund

The Mark Sorensen Youth Sailing Program was founded in 2006 as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization for the express purpose of giving local Florida Keys children of all different backgrounds the opportunity to experience the joy of sailing

and to benefit from the lifelong skills and values the sport imparts.  In recent years, as we have increasingly welcomed more Homestead families into our program, we have extended this opportunity to kids living in South Dade as well.

After many years of providing underprivileged children with full and partial tuition benefits to attend our recreational and competitive programs, MSYSP launched in April of 2017 its Mainsailor Scholarship so that donations can be specifically earmarked to sponsor children living in the communities we serve.

Thanks to the generosity of such organizations as the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys as well as other local businesses and individuals that made contributions, MSYSP awarded a total of 18 full scholarships to local kids and teens from the Upper Keys to attend our sailing camp this past summer of 2017.

With so many families affected by Hurricane Irma, the need for continued support of our Mainsailor Scholarship is as great as ever.  Your contributions will be tax deductible and will go directly toward benefiting a young sailor.
